Government
has promoted North Koreans’ participation
in the 14th Busan Asia Tournament between
29 Sep. and 14 Oct., 2002 in many ways;
extension of an official invitation
to North Korea under the name of an
event steering committee in Oct., 2001
and proposal of participation by a presidential
personal envoy in Apr., 2002 as it is
sure that participation of north Korea
activates sport exchange between South
and North Korea besides, it contributes
to national reconciliation.

A supporting party traveled to from Wonsan to
Busan by Mangyeongbong-No. 92 on 28 Sep.
Total 705 persons participated in the sport event.This
was the first time that North Korea participated
in international sport events held in South Korea
since the partition of the Korean Peninsula. In
particular, it encouraged to activate reconciliation,
exchange, and cooperation between South and North
Korea. |
