The number of shipping serve in 2003 between South and North Korea was 2,022, which are the increase of 10.7 percent compared with the previous year; 877 times from south to north, and 1,245 times from north to south, which are increase of 9.9 percent and 11.3 percent respectively compared with the previous year. The number of operation times of ship with Korean nationality is 360 and it forms 17.8 percent of the whole. Also, 4 regular liners are operating for men and goods transportation between south and north; from Incheon to Busan, from Busan to Najin & from Sokcho to Jangjeon, from Sokcho to Yanghwa respectively.

The number of aircraft running is 43 in 2000, 19 in 2001, and 111 in 2003 ; 55 times from south to north and 56 times from north to south in 2003 since a direct line was opened for the first time in South and North Summit Conference held in 2000.

In terms of a communication network between South and North Korea, two circuits were connected directly between control offices in 2003 for connection construction of the Donghae line railroad/highway. Another two circuits were connected for Mt. Geumgang sightseeing, Hyundai heavy machinery control office in Gaeseong indirectly through satellite. Therefore, total is 64 circuits between South and North Korea by the end of 2003, which are broke down 33 direct circuits and 31 indirect circuits.
