Imjin river located in Paju-si
is military area and
restricted for civilian¡¯s going in and out because
it¡¯s military area. Due to its clean water compared
with other rivers, it¡¯s used for drinking water.
However due to the eliminating wastewater without
permission from wastewater elimination company in
upper stream of Imjin river, July 11th of 1996,
a number of fishes were died by polluted water and
there was trouble getting drinking water.
Therefore, Paju-si repeatedly made the recommendation
to start ¡°headquarter for making a countermeasure
to purify basin of Imjin river¡± and it was started
July of 1996; it has been continually supervising
bad eliminating companies in upper stream of Hantan
river to keep Imjin river from being polluted. |
